International Halal Academy to Launch First Accredited Scientific Journal
Dr. Ali Zoghbi Highlights Unprecedented Growth in Global Halal Market
Dr. Ali Zoghbi, Chairman of the International Halal Academy (IHA), has outlined an ambitious strategy to strengthen the academy’s position as a leading global scientific authority in the halal sector, amid what he described as unprecedented growth in the global halal market. This expansion is driven by population growth in Muslim-majority countries and rising global awareness of quality, sustainability, and ethical standards.
Dr. Zoghbi explained that the academy’s mission focuses on meeting this growing demand through the provision of reliable data, scientific knowledge, and professional training. “We do not simply monitor the halal market; we actively contribute to shaping it through specialized courses, scientific events, publications, and joint research with international institutions,” he said.

He highlighted the increasing interest in halal products among non-Muslim consumers, particularly younger and more conscious demographics seeking guarantees related to food safety, ethical sourcing, and sustainability. According to Dr. Zoghbi, these values are core components of halal certification, prompting the academy to design educational and awareness programs that clearly explain the concept and its broad applications across industries.
Beyond traditional training, the academy operates an integrated “content factory,” producing a wide range of educational media. This includes the “Halal Cast” podcast—the first audio program dedicated to halal topics in Latin America—alongside video interviews, digital publications, and interactive content across social media platforms.
As part of its future roadmap, Dr. Zoghbi announced several key initiatives. These include launching a peer-reviewed scientific journal in partnership with a Brazilian university, accredited by the Brazilian Ministry of Education, dedicated to publishing research across all halal sectors.
The academy also plans to expand its academic offerings through international partnerships and the introduction of a specialized MBA in Halal, focused on market standards and business development. In addition, it will continue organizing scientific events such as the biennial Halal Technical-Scientific Congress.
Dr. Zoghbi revealed that the academy has trained more than 40,000 professionals globally and will celebrate its 10th anniversary in 2027, reinforcing its role as a central knowledge hub in the global halal economy.
