Egyptian Frozen Strawberries Rank First Locally and Globally.

$672 Million in Exports (January–November 2025) with Promising Opportunities in the U.S. and Canada

The frozen strawberry market has undergone significant transformations in recent years, driven by changing global consumption patterns and increased demand for healthy, convenient, and high-quality food products. Frozen strawberries are no longer just a seasonal alternative but have become a key ingredient in the dairy, bakery, and beverage industries, as well as a direct household product for health-conscious consumers.

Egyptian frozen strawberries have kept pace with this global shift, securing the top position in the global market in both value and volume. Exports reached a total of $672 million during the period from January to November 2025, with an 81% growth rate, solidifying their position as the largest player in the global strawberry market.

Global Frozen Strawberry Market Set to Reach $2.5 Billion by 2028

Not only have Egyptian frozen strawberries dominated the global market with a 27% share, but they have also achieved a new milestone locally, topping the list of exported food commodities during the same period (January–November 2025). Exports amounted to $672 million, compared to approximately $370 million during the same period in 2024, achieving a record growth rate of 81% and an increase of $302 million in value.

This surge in Egypt’s frozen strawberry sector reflects expanding demand in European and American markets and the recognition of Egyptian products as a key source in global supply chains.

Global trade in frozen strawberries has grown from $900 million in 2014 to nearly $1.5 billion in 2023, driven by their use in juices, desserts, and concentrates. The sector achieved an average annual growth of 4% in both quantity and value from 2019 to 2023.

5.5% Average Annual Growth in Global Demand Expected Over Next Three Years

Forecasts indicate that the global market is poised for growth rates ranging from 4.5% to 6.5% between 2023 and 2028, with the global frozen strawberry market expected to reach between $2.3 billion and $2.5 billion by 2028.

The United States holds the largest share of global frozen strawberry imports at 24%, followed by Germany at 9%, France at 8%, Canada at 5%, and Japan at 5%. Together, these five countries account for 55% of global frozen strawberry imports.

Egypt leads the list of the largest exporters of frozen strawberries, with a market share of approximately 26%, followed by Mexico at 14%, Poland at 9%, Chile at 7%, and China at 6%.

China was the top importer of Egyptian frozen strawberries in 2023, with imports totaling $46 million and a 14% share, followed by Germany at 12% ($40 million), Poland and the Netherlands each at 9%, Russia at 8%, and the United States at 5%.

The increase in global demand for frozen strawberries can be attributed to several factors, most notably:

• Industrial Demand: Particularly from sectors such as jam, yogurt, ice cream, desserts, and smoothie production.

• Health Awareness: Strawberries are rich in vitamin C and antioxidants, and freezing preserves these nutrients.

• Consumer Convenience and Price Stability: The product is available year-round at prices that are less volatile compared to fresh strawberries.

• Advancements in Cold Chains and Distribution: Improved logistics have expanded the geographic reach of the product.

According to a report by the Export Potential Map issued by the World Trade Organization, Egypt’s frozen strawberry exports are projected to grow by approximately $186.5 million to nine countries over the next five years.

The U.S. market is the most promising, with expected Egyptian exports valued at around $55 million over the next five years, followed by the Canadian market with expected exports of approximately $40 million, and Saudi Arabia with an expected value of $22 million.

Egyptian frozen strawberries also hold promising opportunities in the French market ($17 million), Belgium ($16 million), the United Kingdom ($15 million), Italy ($11 million), Turkey ($5.5 million), and the UAE ($5 million). However, the report anticipates a decline in Egyptian exports of frozen strawberries to the German and Russian markets.

Egyptian exports of frozen strawberries to the U.S. market have seen steady growth in recent years, with an annual increase of 71% in value and 61% in volume.
